I think I figured out what to use for the cake. Now it's the frosting that confuse me... lol... But I will think something out. Maybe I'll try to make some this weekend. Will post the results on the forum

Here's my basic buttercream recipe:
* 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening * 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine softened * 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract * 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar (approximately 1 lb.) * 2 tablespoons milk You can use regular vanilla extract instead of clear. And if it's too thin, add more powdered sugar. I hope you can convert the amounts.

Thanks! The measurements are easy to convert, the ingredients however... But there must be some kind of recipe for it with ingredients that I can find up here.

Confectioner's sugar is also called Icing sugar in Australia. Vegetable shortening? I'm not sure - maybe it's the same as Copha?
That's a cool recipe though.

Do you have already made frosting in your grocery stores? Pilsbury and Betty Crocker make great frosting that comes in cans. You could always do that if you're having trouble with ingredients.

You all make me feel like a lazy baker. I almost always just buy Betty Crocker cake mix and icing and bake that way.

LOL! I always use cake mixes, but I do make my own frosting.
Maddie- I've seen recipes that just use butter, so you could use 1 cup butter and no shortening.

I found both cake and frosting mixes in the store today! And I also found a recipe for frosting in Swedish. Hehe Will show the results this weekend if I can find a cupcake pan. I usually see them everywhere but now when I need one they're impossible to find.

Looook! Made the whole thing from scratch and based the icing on cream cheese. It turned out delicious!
