If you purchased a laptop/notebook that uses one of their graphic/video card chipsets (regardless of whether it's a Mac or a PC--both use the same chipsets these days) sometime between 2005 through this year, you may be interested to know that nVidia recently settled a lawsuit concerning problems with their chipsets (more specifically, the processing unit component of them). As part of the settlement, the company is replacing the bad components free of charge--the list of symptoms that people were having can be found here. While the list of affected laptop models (as well as the years they were sold) can be found in the link I posted earlier. However, the settlement only affects those living in the US, unfortunately.

Sigh. I have a laptop with NVidia chipset. I will go read to see if at least it explains why I'm having the problems I was having. (Until it stopped).
