If somebody wants to delete this thread, feel free to do so. I bought a Mac earlier today ( I'm posting from it now) so I don't have to deal with Microsoft anymore. Good riddens to them...

For the past few days, this has been eating at me in feeling like I let you down somehow or didn't do enough to help you out with this, etc. Regardless, congratulations on the new computer! As to Bill Gates and his stepping down from Microsoft as well as with respect to the disaster known as Vista, he actually wasn't as involved with it as some people might like to think (think Will Wright with respect to the Sims franchise...)--for the past several years (at least, the past 7-8 years), Steve Ballmer (who is also actually the most hated man at Microsoft) has largely been the person in charge of things. As to why Gates chose now to step down, I'll just say that those who follow that company closely and know the complete history of things, don't believe he's completely gone from it nor that the charity fully operates independent of Microsoft. However, since I can't really get into that without also delving into things I can't say here (since they involve politics), I'll leave it at that.

I can't tell you how to feel, but know that I didn't go out the other day and buy a Mac because you didn't help me enough. You provided alot of insight as to what was going on but without physically having the computer sitting in front of you, it's really hard to try and pin point the problem (s). That's just the reality of the situation and nobody can blame you for that. The people that were supposed to come through for me failed to do so, so if there are any bad feelings about the whole thing it's about them, not you. Unless I have a really good reason to walk into another Circut City, it's pretty much guaranteed that they'll never see a shadow of me again. They are not out of my head yet though as I still have to deal with them and getting back whatever is left on my extended warranty that I bought. My Vista system is set up in livingroom. I'm in the process of reinstalling my game on it, but I'm dealing with it when I'm in the mood to do so. I miss my pixel people dearly, but Vista is still spitting out errors that don't make any sense so I'm looking into them when I know I can do so without ripping my hair out. I no longer feel pressured to "fix" everything as I no longer have to depend on that system to get things done so that has helped my stress levels tri-fold. I've discovered that there is a memory leak within in the registry. That computer as well as this one only has one user (me) and Vista is telling me at various times that there have been 1 to 2 users tapping into my registry key. I have since taken out Microsft Live Windows Care as one entry was attached to that and so far I haven't seen that error again, but I'm still wondering why it appeared and what was causing it. Upon looking it up, it seems as though alot of people are dealing with this leak and nobody is sure where or what is causing it. As for the Mac, I love it. The first day I had it I managed to delete ITunes as Apple insists on putting application files in the trash can after they've been closed. I haven't tried to understand that, but reinstalling Leopard put everything back. I also had issues with IWork and Photoshop Elements freezing, but both of those issues were fixed when I updated both programs. I also bought a copy of the Sims 2 base game but my reservations about installing it due to EA's transition from Safe Disc to Securom hit as I opened the box. On my Vista system I knew where to find Securom and how to deal with it, with this one it isn't so easy so I don't know if it will ever get installed at this point. The CD is still wrapped from the factory but since I broke the factory seal on the box it came in, I can't return it. I'll either get brave and install it at some point or it will just become something else to dust. I suppose if I never get past my reservations I could always sell it. Anyway, it's all good CC. Thank you for the time you took out of your day to help me out with what you could. I wish things in the world of Microsoft were much different than what they are today, but wishing doesn't change things. I think it's going to take a massive overhaul before people from Microsoft see the light at the end of the tunnel. The people at the Apple store took my hostility towards PC's in stride and some of them actually knew what I was talking about with certain problems while others looked at me like I was speaking French. One of those french speaking moments is when I told them about how when I added more RAM to Lucifer it spat out errors at me because of it. I asked if Mac's did the same thing and I could have sworn I heard crickets chirping in the background. LOL Oh well, I bought the Apple care protection plan so they're stuck with me for the next 3 years.
