Okay, I have to link this out cause it's huge, but I lose detail if I shrink it and as I need opinion on it full size. See picture hereIt's sort of an untitled at this point. You see my cousin is getting married this month and I'm painting this for a wedding present for them, but I am seriously nervous because--well--I have never given anyone other than my mom, brother, and two very good friends one of my digital paintings. It'll eventually be printed out and framed--so I need some serious constructive criticism. All my usual people to go to tell me it looks really good, but I of course want it to look better. Any comments/critiques are welcome. ~Steph

Like Felicity said, I think it's georgeous and I'm sure your friend will love it!
But, if you want a suggestion or two, I'll give them provided you know the painting looks fantastic already!
1. The fence might look a little more realistic if you shade it a bit more on the left, fading it out versus cutting it off...
2. The clouds might use a bit more softness around the whiter parts...a bit more of the inbetween shades versus white to dark...
I hope that helps! Please do remember that it's fabulous as is! Normally I wouldn't critisize someone's art, but since you seemed distressed about it, I thought this once...

Oohoho Awesome!!! The tree is just... PERFECTION!!! The only thing I can see that looks a little strange, if I must find something to criticize that is, is the cloud formation that kinda looks like a hammer or maybe a tilted "T" in the middle of the formation. Maybe you should try and soften it up, or add more details to the entire formation. I don't know. It looks really good as it is too.

Very pretty! The only thing I could think to add is basically what Maddie said--Soften up the clouds a bit. That one spot she described stands out a little too much.

Thanks, guys! I kept meaning to respond to your comments, which were really helpful, Kirsten and Maddie. But I kept getting lost in trying to work on my piece and then would forget and just close my window. I have another version that I've played with, adding the suggestions. See it hereI never even noticed that the T-piece of cloud was off, I guess it proves you really can stare at something too long to notice the off things. Don't worry about criticizing, Kirsten. It's how people get better. Sometimes a suggestion--like say highlighting the fence is something that really adds, but the person working on the piece never thought of. I certainly didn't but I think the fence looks a tiny bit more fence-like now. ~Steph

Well I think it looks really great now! It's amazing that so little can do so much, especially in ther fence! The whole picture came to life just adding those highlights on the fence!

Super! Are you doing that from your head or from a photograph. Either way it's amazing.

Thanks, Maddie, Nina and Carol. It's from my head mostly. I used photographs for choosing the initial colors, for proportion reference on the tree and building, and a little bit on the cloud formation. (I wanted to know what the highlights on a certain kind of cloud would look like.) But the rest of it was all me. ~Steph
