World Adventures is the first pack that was released and it involves traveling to China, France, and Egypt as well as actually exploring sites (if you're familiar with it, think of the Tomb Raider series of games, except more Sim-themed) and collecting items and learning new skills (such as photography and martial arts, which the game refers to as "Sim Fu"). I has a nice selection of objects tied into the respective cultures as well as clothing. Ambitions is the second pack to have been released and it involves mostly new careers which your sim can complete (such as an interior design career and your actually redesigning or redecorating a space for a given function within a budget for another sim or the firefighting career where you go with your sim to the site of a fire or other emergency and deal with it--there's also a ghostbusting career, private investigator, and stylist profession, and the doctor profession was also expanded in this way). Your sim can also become registered as "self-employed" letting them earn money as a painter, fisherman, gem, bug collector, etc. or one of the new hobbies of sculpting or inventing (you can also sell things through the new consignment shop). It also has some interesting antiques and architectural objects that come with it (as the new town that comes with it, Twinbrook, appears to be based upon the American South). The third pack is Late Night, which is similar to Hot Date/Nightlife where there are new types of places to go out at night (to various clubs), albeit sims can now try and become celebrities as well and there are vampires. The new town included, Bridgeport, is very urban and allows sims to live in apartments (albeit, only one sim per building). It includes hot tubs as well as the ability to build actual fountains. It also lets sims experiment with making different types of drinks which can sometimes have an effect on sims (such as faster skill building, quicker romances, etc.). Generations is the one that was just released and builds upon the family aspects of the game--especially elders, teens, children, and toddlers. However, I've only had it for about a day and haven't really played with it very much. This is by no means an all-inclusive idea into what these packs include--as there are some features and such that I'm sure I've left out, but can't remember at the moment. I have to admit out of all the packs, though, I probably have played World Adventures the most.

I think all of them are worth buying... unlike the stuff packs which aren't.

I agree about the stuff packs--too little content to usually really make them worthwhile, unless you find them on sale for a ridiculously-low price.

World adventures came with worlds to travel to, where as Ambitions and Late Night come with new worlds you can play in. Generations doesn't come with a new world, but it is full of new things that are must have items and interactions

Bargain prices are always good!
I think you will have fun with world adventures too - the scenery and landscape in China, France and Egypt is quite spectacular and worth getting just to look at. I enjoy doing the adventures as long as they aren't the focus of my sims life, and many of my sims have picked up foreign partners. That is, I think World Adventures is better than Bon Voyage in Sims2 or Vacation in Sims1.
