It's odd as now that I have time to play, this had to happen. About a week ago, my external hard drive began making noises (it does not appear to point to a hard drive failure, however--that's the good news. The noise appears to be pointing more toward an issue with the enclosure it's in, possibly a fan). So, as it's still under warranty, I may have to send it in for repairs (once the company finally finishes moving facilities and their support resumes requests and such). This also means looking into having to reformat and possibly wipe the drive before sending it in. The really bad news is that because I had to install many of my Sims 3 packs onto it, I will soon have to say farewell to them all until it gets home, hopefully safe and sound and working again. In the meantime, it looks like I may not be able to play Sims 2 either for related reasons. However, I fully intended on backing up everything on that drive onto a backup drive I have on order (as backing it up onto DVD I don't honestly consider to be much of a viable option--the drive going in for repairs is about 1TB, or roughly 170+ DVDs...). So, once it does arrive home again and I can reinstall, I hope to be able to complete the Constructo challenge and just play again.

Oh man, hopefully you get everything resolved pretty quickly. Not having a working computer sucks!!

Thanks! I have a working computer--just a misbehaving external hard drive (which I "need" as I'm out of space on my internal hard drives--my external is also "home" to my "My Documents" directories as well, which is why I can't even play Sims 2 if I wanted to until this gets resolved). In the meantime, the good news is that the hard drive, itself, may be all right and it may be an issue with the enclosure or a loose cable inside (I would still need to back up everything, however, as I would need to reformat and wipe the drive before sending it back for repairs--which it's going to go in for).
