Hello everyone, Some time ago I tried getting back into TS2, but I didn't play much longer than a sim-week for some reason. I thought that maybe recovering my old hood, where I had all my favourite sims, would help, but it seems to be corrupted as the game doesn't even load it. I found and followed Prudence's tutorial on N99 (Welcome to Simpixels, by the way! ), but after spending a long time deleting and fixing things in SimPE, it seemed like I would never finish, and I got overwhelmed and discouraged. I was wondering, since so many new things have appeared on the TS2 community since I was last actively checking it, are there any automatic or semi-automatic ways to fix a corrupted hood? Thanks in advance!

Sadly, Jessica, there's no easy way to revive a corrupt hood. It's very labor intensive.
You'd likely do better just to start fresh. If you do, I'd highly recommend starting with one of the clean hood templates. There are many of them out there, but one several folks seem to favor is by meetme2theriver. I'd post a link, but haven't figured out how to do that here yet. Google her/him though and you'll find it. She offers several different types, with and without sims.

Pru - {url=theurl} Name of the site or whatever {/url} is how to do a link. Alternatively, the forum is smart enough that if you just type in a url, it will automatically convert it to a url.
Also for clean hoods - try the tutorial down in tutorial section about setting up a clean hood - there's pretty much everything there, and it's a good way of setting up clean templates. (Do try out the meetmeat the river templates though - I hear they are very good)

Thank you girls! Pru, I was afraid that would be the case. Thank you anyway! I did start fresh with a BACC 'hood (following Nepheris' ruleset), but as I said it didn't hold my interest for too long. Maybe I should try going back to it and see if I can get interested on it again. I also remember that just before quitting TS2 I set up a 'hood with lots and everything ready to start creating the sims. Maybe I should see if I still have that somewhere. I did use clean templates even back then, so that should be OK. Kiri, thank you for reminding me of your awesome tutorial! It did help me when creating my new BACC neighbourhood some months ago.

I'm afraid I don't have any help to offer, but good luck finding/setting up a hood Jess I hope you'll find some interest! I wish I could get an interest in TS2 again (well, part of me does, as I can't play it on my mac it's not really any use to want to), as there are things I miss, but the gameplay doesn't suit me that well.

Thank you, Thea! I quite enjoyed TS2 when I came back to it, at least while my interest lasted. The sims seemed more expressive and I guess I liked the feeling of familiarity the game gave me.

Jess, as I recall your legacy hood was more a storytelling hood than a challenge hood in the way you played - that may be why the BACC didn't hold your interest?

That might be the reason indeed, Kiri; I don't know. I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't hold my interest because I was really looking forward to starting it. Oh well, maybe I'll try again.

You know, none of the challenge-style hoods ever worked for me. I guess I don't like playing by rules, LOL. I didn't even follow EA's plans for any of their hoods, either. I just picked a few families I enjoyed and started playing them; the more I played them and the more their history built up, the greater my interest in the game grew.
I tried a Legacy style hood a few years ago, but quickly realized that I much prefer playing multiple families and interweaving them, much as Kiri is planning to do with her new hood. I also find that if I get bored with one scenario, I can try another one with another family.
Whatever game or style you play, hope you find the fun in it, Jessica. I'm continually amazed that I can still have fun and get this involved after 12+ years (counting Sims 1).

Wow, BACC looks like a lot of work.
I think I'd like to start another legacy. I never get very far into it, but it is a lot of fun.
