Some time ago I posted about that I was having problems running my Bon Voyage CD, that it wouldn't respond to starting up the game and it would take several tries to get it do start. Well, surprise surprise, now the same thing is happening with my Apartment Life CD. I click the desktop icon and sometimes nothing happens. Other times, you can hear the CD-player working, and see that little symbol on the screen, and then nothing happens. (It does start the game sometimes but...not nearly often enough).
The CD is clean. It has no big scratches, but many many tiny scratches (the sort you can only see when they're hit by light at a certain angle). The CD is fairly new, and I've not used it much at all so I don't nkow where the scratches have come from. The Bon Voyage CD was the same way and that one had been used even less than this one. I'm almost starting to wonder if the problem is with the CD-drive, maybe even if it's what's causing the scratches. I don't know, maybe that's not possible. But is it possible that it's the CD-drive that's starting to malfunction and having trouble reading the CDs rather than the CDs being the problem? Any advice on what I can do about this problem as a general, regardless of the cause?
UPDATE:
*sigh* I must've tried to run it like 40 times today, and it's not started since I closed it down to download something this morning. No luck at all...sometimes I get the "Insert the real disc, not the security copy"-message that I used to get when I had the same problem with Bon Voyage.
I just wanna be able to play my game...:( Can't afford to buy a second copy of the game just cos my CD isn't working
