This one was hardly a surprise really--I think pretty much most of the industry as well as community has known, or, at least, had suspected this going on now for years. A sort of "industry dirty secret" if you will, save that until now, there has never been either any solid proof of it nor anyone willing or able to catch them (or any part of them) in the act of it... I think more eyebrows were raised, quite honestly, that they had not only been actually caught, but were finally taken to task over it and held accountable for it with respect to some part of it--even if it was just one subsidiary of it. What I'm speaking of is Microsoft (or rather their German subsidiary) having been caught in the act of "price fixing" their software (specifically, in this instance, Office 2007) in Germany by way of a still-unnamed retail company in that country and Microsoft's German subsidiary has been fined over it.
