It's summer which means the PC is acting up. I don't know what it is about this time of year as it runs fine for the other 3 seasons. My game wouldn't load the other night and I got the all too familiar beeping noise coming out of the tower, so I reseated the Ram ( Again!) the next day and everything is fine. Here's the part the boggles my brain. The seasonal act-up boggles as well, but, how does Ram become unseated for a desk top system? The tower is in a cabinet so it isn't as if it's being bounced around all over the place like a laptop might and I'm the only one that uses it. When I'm not using it, it's shut down. The cats do use the top of the desk like a kitty window seat, but they are not heavy enough to move the desk when they either jump up or down. Maybe I have Gnomes or trolls living in my PC's tower. If so, they need a eviction notice...

It's practically unheard of for that to happen for any reason--even if a system was bopped about or bumped into on a regular basis, there are certain aspects of the "banks" as well as in just the locking mechanisms that should prevent the RAM from somehow becoming unseated, even in that situation (this applies to even just laptops/"notebooks" as well). The only times I've heard of memory becoming unseated due to something like climate changes of any sort or anything seasonal affecting it is in a situation where the materials (particularly the metals that are involved along the connectors that touch upon the banks and allow for the RAM to make contact with the motherboard and vice versa) may have reacted to the humidity factor--but the humidity would have to be so great, it would be greater than if a system were sitting in a shower (in other words, even in the tropics where rain and mass humidity may be prevalent at all times, the odds of that happening are incredibly slim at best)). I've often joked in the past to people that some computers definitely do have a mind and personality that are very much their own--usually to the annoyance of the user in some way.

I guess I chose a good name ( Lucifer) for it then as it likes to do things when I'm least expecting it or when I really need brainless down time. The humidity in that room is controlled as our chinchilla is in there and if he overheats, he could become very ill or die if it were to get hot enough. I did notice that most of the pins or clips that hold the Ram sticks in place were flipped the wrong way. The one stick that was causing the problem had one clip that was not closed properly. I don't know. I took Lucifer offline last year in hopes that I wouldn't have to deal with these mysterious issues that PC's often come with and it worked until we made the leap from Spring to Summer. Stupid PC... Thanks for the help.
