For those who had not heard about this yet, there was recently a trojan discovered by Symantec with respect to Skype which is said to record everything that gets sent to/from an infected user (it's recorded into a MP3 file which is then supposedly later re-transmitted to an unknown server location). While the current threat level is considered relatively low, the malware writers unfortunately chose to open source the coding for it and make it available to anyone wishing to further distribute--or alter--it and have made it available to the more maliciously-minded out there. However, given the size of the MP3 file that the spyware records to and the amount of time and bandwidth required to transmit said MP3 file, there remains some question into the feasibility or likelihood of someone attempting this. Regardless, I did think to mention to anyone using this service to be just be careful.

Thanks CharlieChomper - I use Skype all the time. I'll be double checking for Trojans around it.

If it's true that is one ambitious trojan, heh. I don't use Skype much but I do use it when I'm in Canada to talk to my folks so I'll make sure to check my computer and K's computer for trojans around the time of my trip.
