Hey Emma and Jess,
Nanowrimo has started for us midnight 31 October.
I thought we might use this thread to support each other in the process.
Good luck!

OK - Day 1 was hard to keep focussed. I kept on wanting to do other things, and remembering housework and so on to do. Heaven help me - I'm going to have a spotless house if that's the best creative avoidance I can come up with. Creative Avoidance = finding other important things to do, to avoid doing the thing you dread doing. I could get a gold medal for Australia, if this was ever included in the Olympics. Eventually, Petr was tapping on my shoulder - and I struggled to write the first bit. The Prologue. It took me 2 1/2 hours to write it - 1366 words, which is 300 below quota. But the Prologue doesn't need any more, so I'm stopping there. At least it's written. It feels like garbage, and I'm sure that it has many mistakes and so on it. It is really hard to turn the inner editor off. And of course, I'm going to be all perfectionist all over it later. How are you going girls? Kiri

Oy vey, keeping focus is defenitally hard! I feel I must have almost broken my own record in creative avoidance. I've worked on my eternal name-file, I've played games online, I've chatted with a friend, I've paced around the flat a lot, I've registered for an account at Reddit, I've gone through the contents of my desk drawers, I've done the dishes...the only thing I haven't done is actually go up to my den and start cleaning there! lol. Oh, and also, I've switched ideas. Though I did that two days ago. I found I just was not getting anywhere with my School-story...I've done so much planning and idea-storming on it in the past month or two but the last few details I wanted to sort I just didn't get anywhere with. So I decided to go for a new idea I got a few weeks back. Since it's new and relatively unplanned I'm hoping just typing away will be easier and that I'll feel less pressure. Plus... I know this is sorta meant to produce sucky writing (lol) but I cannot cope with "writing more than usually"-sucky and "writing while uninspire"-sucky all at once, XD. Anyways...in spite of all the avoidance I have managed to write a bit. 1179 words so far, to be precise. Hoping to manage another 500-1000 before the day is over. I'll add that at one point I spent half an hour going crazy over how a panel next to a door in the story should look and how to describe it It's defenitally hard not to go back and reread things too...But I've mostly avoided it so far, hah.

Update: My total for day 1 is 2030 words! I'm not too optimistic about tomorrow since I'm working a full shift and then going to Ikea with my parents after. But I'm hoping I'll at least manage 500 words or so. Well, now I'm heading to bed! Good night!

Good luck with this, girls! I don't think I'm going to do it after all, I'm pretty busy lately, and too tired or wanting to do leisurely type things when I'm not (like playing videogames). I wish you both the best of luck, though!

Jessica, too bad about missing a member in our tiny group but I totally understand your arguments! Too much to do isn't good and videogames are better relaxation than writing lots, hah! =) Kiri, we both had slow days today then. Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll make up for it! 700-ish words here. Still more than I thought since I've only been home for 3 hours unless you count this morning before work. I was also a very bad girl and rewrote a bit! Just changed a few words though, cos I had an idea at work that effected how I had to lay some things out in chapter 1. Also, Chapter 1 is now done (in it's NaNoWriMo draft for, so beware of potential strangeness and typos). I might merge it with Chapter 2 when I rewrite after NaNoWriMo but for now I'd rather make short chapters, easier to feel a sense of accomplishment that way. I've uploaded it as a PDF to my special webfolder. If anyone wants to read who doesn't have the pass yet, just send me a pm. Now, time for bed.

Another rather slow day...900 words, give or take. Not enough but oh well...Still more total than I expected of myself. Tomorrow I must get some serious writing done though, which shouldn't be a problem since I'm free most of the day apart from a 2 hour lesson.

I didn't write at all yesterday - totally motivationless, and at a loss to work out what to do.
Interestingly enough, I had a very vivid dream last night which has added the extra idea that I wanted to add to this story, so I just wrote without having to push it, for 15 minutes while I waited for Pink to come on line. It's so good to feel the ideas flowing!!!!
Hopefully today will be the day when I catch up all the words I've missed in the last 3 days.

I love dreams like that (well, waking moments like that too), where it's like someone's just handing you the good ideas or the missing peice you needed for the story!
Good luck with catching up, Kiri!

250 words yesterday, and none today. But I'm not worried.... That's what Saturday is for. I'm not going to beat myself up because I have no spoons. That's the problem with doing Nanowrimo and PT at the same time. Kiri

I did something like...maybe 1000 words yesterday I think. None so far today but then I just got home an hour ago. I'm hoping to have Chapter Two up in my folder tonight or tomorrow!
It's good that you're not worried, I think the worrying just makes it worse personally! I'm behind the ideal words/day too but...I'm way ahead of my own expectations, haha! So I'm not worried either.

I've added Chapter 2 to my webfolder now! It has a bit of a wierd ending but I was having a hard time with the scene so I decided it was better to cut to the next and sum the end of it up in the beginning of the next one. My total is now 6032 words! I will start Chapter 3 once I get home from Ikea.

Congrats Emma - That's wonderful!
I've done quite a bit of writing today (as well as sleeping) but no personal training - and boy does it make a difference! More spoons to do things with.
So far I've done 5000 words, but I've got the rest of this scene and the next to write tonight, and I'm way into the interesting bit so the words are flowing better too so I think tomorrow will flow pretty well as well.

5000 words in one day is very good! It's so nice when it flows, isn't it? =)
I don't know about my outlook for today...I started chapter 3 last night but this morning it was off to buy a dining table and then back to screw my bed together. It's still not done, we're just breaking for lunch. Then it'll be finishing the bed and cleaning up a bit and then (gasp) moving the computer and finally grocery shopping so I've breakfast tomorrow after my first night in the flat. But I still intend to try for at least a couple of thousand words tonight once everything's calmed down...
