This may not seem terribly significant to some, but partly in response to the recent issues with add-ons being snuck in via updates on the part of companies (notably Microsoft as well as Sun to a lesser extent), the Mozilla group has announced they will add a new feature to lock down upon the "rogue" add-ons as well as to better provide stability for the browser in the case of third-party add-ons (although, most of what gets officially posted to the add-ons page usually has to undergo a submission review process before it's considered). However, anyone using Google's desktop search add-on may find it incompatible with this change until Google makes the necessary changes to it (the Firefox team has already begun providing documentation to the developers of add-ons to help them migrate over to the new system and, in some notable cases, are working with them to help prepare them for it). At the moment, the release in question is still in the beta stage and the only parties with access to that candidate release (aside from the devs, of course) would be either testers or those volunteering to help out in serious testing of it. No word yet as to when 3.6 will finally be released or even release what would be considered a serious contender for the final beta release candidate.
