Creating the new neighbourhoods
Why? This is so we can
1) Make sure we get them right before they go in the game
2) Have them ready if we ever need to re-install the game again for whatever reason.
First-up - Create a new folder in your installation folder called 'New Neighbourhoods'
What we're going to do in this folder, is create the New neighbourhoods so they have the same shape as the Old ones. Because we've saved the old neighbourhoods we can use the saved versions rather than going back and forth from the program files folder.
BASE GAME
1. Create a Blank Set of Folders
In the Base Game folder, we want to set up the set of folders and sub-folders as we have for the same one in the Old Neighbourhoods folder.
That is -
1) Create Folder: Neighborhoods
2) In Neighborhoods, create Folders: N001, N002, N003
3) In N001, create folders Characters, Lots, Thumbnails
4) Copy and paste the Characters, Lots and Thumbnails folders into N002 and N003.
5) From the Old Neighbourhoods folder, Copy and Paste the Tutorials folder into the same place in the New Neighbourhoods folder.
It should look like this:
OK - so now we have a blank set of Folders for the Base Game.
2. Put the existing stuff we need back into the new neighbourhood
If we look at each level of folder in the old neighbourhood we can see that there are files there. Some of these we want to put in our new 'hoods too.
So we'll be looking in the Old Neighbourhoods, and copying and pasting to the same sort of location in the New Neighbourhoods folder.
Starting from the outside and working in:
From the neighborhoods folder - copy NeighborhoodManager.package
From the N001 folder - copy
N001_Neighborhood.png
N001_Neighborhood.reia
(We're not copying over the N001_Neighborhood.package because that is the one that we are replacing).
OK - and it's decision time. Do you want the lots from the game or not? If you do - copy over the lots folder, if you don't - then leave it.
So Characters folder and Thumbnails folder will be empty. Lots will be empty if you want the hood with no houses.
3. Copy in the new stuff
If you go into your zips, and unzip N001, N002 and N003 you'll find that each of them has a single package in them called -
N001_Neighborhood.package (where N001 is replaced with whateveer the hood is).
Copy N001_Neighborhood.package into the N001 folder in the New Hoods area.
And so on for N002 and N003.
There! the Base game new neighbourhoods are now set up!
