Am I the only one who likes re-making old clothes? Yesterday I re-made a dress from H&M bought in early 2008. This one is REALLY cute and has the best bust design ever! But, I didn't find it that comfortable as a dress. Actually I can't believe I got the dress when I remember there was a top in the same design... Anyway, I decided to make it into a top. Yeah, you just have to imagine the way it looked as a dress, I forgot to take a picture of it. The last picture is the part of the skirt that I cut off. I wanted the top to be a little longer than usual as I'm planning to wear it with my skinny jean leggings. From the cut out skirt part I decided to make some sleeves. Wanted some fluttery short sleeves, I think that's how the top design looked like. I am quite amazed that I got this right when I just cut it out without much measuring! DONE! I will try and give you a picture with it on sometime. It's awesome I will post some more of my recycled things soon!

Thanks!!!
The best thing is that it's not expensive. I've decided to not buy any new clothes this spring, I will up-cycle things I already have instead.
Maybe that way I will make use of the huge button collection that I have laying around too!

Maddie it is beautiful! In order to have this kind of result you need not only to have sewing skills but also creativity. Obviously you have both!

That is a lovely top - and I agree repurposing/recycling is a great way to get new life in your wardrobe and your clothes! I would love to see a picture with you in it!

Very pretty, and very good idea. I'd probably think about doing that, recycling stuff, except everything I own is either a teeshirt, a cami, a hoodie, or jeans. I own two skirts and no dresses. I hate shopping at the size I am. There's nothing even remotely resembling cute in anything that's nice, you can find business casuals and that's about it.
I have seriously thought about breaking out the old sewing machine and making some dresses even if I do have buy fabric for them. Meh, the nice thing about fabric as opposed to clothes is you can buy as much as you need in whatever you find cute.
I would, also, love to see what else you come up with. You're always so creative with your creations. ~Steph

Yeah, the cute clothes are always in small sizes... And the bigger sizes are all black, brown and boring :/ T-shirts are my favorite thing to re-make though! There are a lot of possibilities with t-shirts! I even think there's a book called 100 ways to re-make a t-shirt or something like that... Not sure if it's all stylish Here's a t-shirt dress (think long t-shirt) that I made into a regular top last year. The part I cut off I made into a flower decoration on the collar. The sequins are from some other shirt that I tried to do somthing with but ended up throwing away. In the bottom seam I added a elastic band (Is that what it's called?) to make it a little more exciting and not have the bottom flutter around.... I made the pillows too The flower thing got a little trashed when I washed it though... It doesn't matter much, I like it a little trashed.... And I'm not sure if you've seen this one before... This shirt dress is from 2001 and was laying in my closet collecting dust before I re-did it in november. Before, pink and ugly: After, black buttons, bow and some nice sleeve details using the left over fabric from the bottom added. I want a high waisted pencil skirt to go with it: Oh, and I also did a new necklace to wear with the first top

You are so much more creative than I am with clothes. Every time you've put up stuff that you've made I always admire how you've got such an individual style with what you create. Well I suppose there are ways I could re-purpose teeshirts, I just am not that creative. The necklace is really cute, and both of the new tops are really pretty. I really love how you pay attention to details with your clothes. I tend to not pay much attention past "it's clean and it's not stained." I don't even pay much attention to "it doesn't clash". Well, that's mostly because I don't actually own anything that's capable of clashing particularly... Most of what I have is either solid or is patterned in neutral enough colors that it doesn't matter. ~Steph

Thanks guys Having a wardrobe with basic and solid colors and patterns can be good too sometimes. At least there will not be much anxiety attacks when going out because you have "nothing to wear". You should see me when I sometimes dress up. All of my clothes are one the floor and I can't decide what to wear even though I've tried at least 10 possible outfits Sometimes I cringe at my girliness when it comes to clothes Details really make the outfits for me. That ,and unexpected combinations!
