Disclaimer: As the title suggests, this is a reposting of an earlier thread. The information is still relevant as is the article and was important enough to where I've chosen to repost it here.n another thread sometime ago, I had posted about a "silent" update that Microsoft had installed to computers regardless of whether the user had updates enabled or not and without the consent of the users and that it later came out as having some issues attached to it (among them, it's not possible to do a system restore to prior to the date of this "patch" to try and even remove it). One of the articles I had read about this can be found here: www.theregister.com/2007/09/14/microsoft_dispels_stealth_update_rumors/ . However, it doesn't fully go into some of the issues users have experienced after the fact as a result of this patch that have been documented in other articles, elsewhere. However, it seems that rather than learn from what happened before, they appear to have done so again, which has also been found to be causing problems. However, it so far appears to be mainly affecting companies as opposed to users. That article can be found here: www.theregister.co.uk/2007/10/25/windows_update_snafu/
