Disclaimer: As the title suggests, this is a reposting of an earlier thread. The information is still relevant as is the article and was important enough to where I've chosen to repost it here.
I found this article in the process of catching up on some news within the tech community (the newspaper the article appears in isn't really known for its tech news, but the article isn't in direct context to the technical aspects of things--it's regarding something else involving Vista...).
To provide some background into things and for those unaware, Microsoft is currently being sued over Vista, specifically in relation to some of its problems. The lawsuit was actually filed in April of last year and recently, a judge ruled to allow for it to proceed. As a result of this, there has been a small flood (putting it mildly) of emails and documents internally within Microsoft as well as some of the big-named vendors (namely, companies that build computers) which have been released as a result of this.
Most recently, among the companies that appeared to have had to provide access to their internal documents involving this has been Dell (and the article I'm posting the link to actually involves some insight into some of the reasons behind the problems with Vista).
I don't know how much interest there will be in this, as it often feels like I'm posting these types of news items for naught lately (at least, judging by the last few times I've tried to do so...). However, regardless, the link to the article can be found here.
Incidentally, for those who might be wondering, OEM (in this context, as the term actually has another, slightly different meaning as well) refers to copies sold via companies such as Dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway/eMachines, Acer, Fujitsu-Siemens, etc. pre-installed onto computers the companies build for sale.
