Disclaimer: As the title suggests, this is a reposting of an earlier thread. The information is still relevant as is the article and was important enough to where I've chosen to repost it here.
I had hoped to post all this much sooner, but in a way, it may have been just as well that I wasn't able to do so sooner as the new news regarding Service Pack1 for Vista was just released today.
Some of the news is something of an update to my last thread and the article that was posted in it, as well as pertaining to the current, ongoing lawsuit against Microsoft over Vista and its problems.
There are also two articles about what has been dubbed Vista's "replacement" and there has been a wide array of speculation from the time the news was first leaked as to whether it will be the eventual replacement/successor for it as Windows XP was to Windows 98/SE and ME (or Microsoft had hoped Vista would be in relation to XP) or whether it may replace Vista much sooner in hopes of diverting the current Vista fiasco that has been plaguing the company. At the moment and with the current information that has been released, it seems likely to be the former situation.
The first article actually came as a surprise as I can safely say that almost no one--including people in the industry--expected for Microsoft to still release Service Pack One so soon, in light of the recent problems that arose with it and Microsoft, themselves, claiming they were not going to be releasing it supposedly until they resolved those problems. They're also apparently going to start selling and marketing Vista at a lower price--in hopes of attracting more users to it.
The second article involves something of an "update" with respect to my last post and the current lawsuit against Microsoft over Vista.
The third article and the forth article are the two articles I had mentioned about Microsoft's upcoming operating system. However, they go into the company being investigated by the US Department of Justice (I know the EU is also taking another look at Microsoft in regards to this as well--albeit, I may need to see if I can locate that article again) over anti-trust violations again and Microsoft submitting their upcoming operating system to the panel to review it. Among the reasons I'm posting both articles, however, isn't entirely because of that but as also as they get into some of what's to come as well as (with one of the articles) some of the other issues involving Vista.
