I did a reformat on the computer yesterday due to the issues we've been having with freezing and such. Everything when fine and I installed everything computer related yesterday.
So today I thought that I would install programs and games. I've installed a couple but when I installed Sim City 4 Rush Hour the CD broke in the CD drive! I have no idea what happened, the drive read the CD normally and then it started to sound funny and smell burnt? I shut down the computer and opened the drive - some parts of the CD is in a bowl next to me but the rest is stuck in the CD drive!
I have no idea what to do! (It is a Fujitsu-Siemens desktop computer and we have the warranty on it so I do not think I should poke around in it, right?) Has anyone experienced something similar, because it's never happened to me before!
HELP!!!

Nathaliee that sounds terrible. I have to say its the first time I have heard of this! You must have got quite a fright! I dont know much about these things, but I think if there is still a warranty, it might be a good idea to take it back to the place where you bought it from. Surely the drive will have to be replaced..? Felicity

Yeah, I would leave everything where it is and cash in on that warranty. I would think your CD drive should be covered

Thanks for the 's! I've never heard of it either Felicity, so it came as a shock to me! And Thea, I'm so glad I'm not the only one it's happened to! I've looked forward to start building Pixie Shire + the rest of my unfinished neighbourhoods. It's just such a let down when something always seems to be wrong with the computer. We'll call Fujitsu-Siemens on friday after my mum comes home to see what they have to say. Right now I wish that the computer won't freeze or something like that, it would be great if we only had to replace the DVD-rom (and quicker! ) Cross your fingers for poor Mio!

I've heard of it happening but no idea how to get the bits and pieces out. The others I heard about didn't shatter like that just broke into a couple of pieces. That is not a good thing though and if it's still under waranty they should replace it.

I have almost half of the CD in a bowl next to me, the DVD-rom has eaten the rest of it!

Hmmm ... years ago, when my brother was installing Sim Safari on our computer it did that. While it was installing it got really loud, like it was going to explode! We had to send the computer back to the store because there were still shards left and we did not trust the CD drive after that.
It has happened one other time at my house ... D: (Bad ROM karma?)
